Meet Jordie

Jordie Kavanaugh brings over a decade of experience working with high school students and their families, guiding them through the college application process. With a background in both public and private school settings, Jordie has served as a high school college counselor and an AP English teacher, blending practical insight with a genuine passion for helping students find their “home away from home.” A self- proclaimed bookworm, she draws on her love for reading and writing, empowering students to discover their unique voice and craft personal, compelling essays. For the past three summers, she’s taken her enthusiasm for storytelling a step further by working with College Essay Guys' Matchlighters Program, supporting students nationwide through the writing process.

Jordie holds a Master’s in Counseling and is an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), as well as a member of both the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC). She stays actively engaged with the ever-evolving landscape of college admissions through ongoing conferences, workshops, and, of course, campus tours. She believes that identifying the right college is about more than selecting the desired degree program—it’s about finding a school that helps a student discover who they truly are and hope to become.

When she’s not working with students, Jordie can be found browsing the aisles of BookPeople for her next great read, cheering on her Ole Miss Rebels, catching a concert, or walking the Austin greenbelt with her husband, two daughters, and their miniature dachshunds.
